Firearms Importing

Importing firearms to Australia isn’t straightforward, but absolutely possible with the right permits and pathways. Arranging those permits, along with the freight and customs clearance that go with them here and overseas, is what we do.

At a glance

Firearm imports into Australia, handled end to end — sourcing, permits, freight and customs clearance. Categories A–D and H, subject to your licence. You’ll need a Permit to Acquire for when it lands. One point of contact for both ends.

How importing firearms to Australia works

  1. A B709A or AG import permit is obtained for each firearm, tied to your licence and category.
  2. Export clearance is arranged in the source country.
  3. The firearm is packed, insured and shipped by an approved carrier with matching documentation.
  4. It is cleared through Australian customs against the permit on arrival.
  5. It is transferred to your nominated licensed dealer for collection.

Timeframes and costs vary by country and firearm type, so the country guides below walk through the specifics.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own firearms licence to import?

Yes. I import on your behalf and then transfer to a dealer, so you’ll need to be certain you can obtain a Permit to Acquire for when it lands. I confirm exactly what’s required before anything moves.

Is importing a firearm into Australia legal?

Absolutely — with the right permits and permissions. Every import runs on the proper Australian and overseas approvals. No shortcuts, no grey areas.

Do you handle both the overseas and Australian sides?

I can — sourcing, export clearance in the origin country, freight, the Australian import permit and customs clearance, through to your dealer. One point of contact for the whole chain. That said, if your firearm or part is particularly obscure or collectible, I may send you off with some links: there are so many variations and points of interest for collectors that you’re best placed to decide. You’re the expert on your firearm; I’m the expert on the import and export process.

Which categories of firearm can you import?

A, B, C, D and H, subject to your licence and the relevant permits. Unsure if something’s importable? Ask first.

Can I buy the firearm myself, or do you source it?

Either — bring me one you’ve already bought, or have me source and purchase on your behalf.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

It varies by country and firearm, so the country guides cover specifics. Consolidation, permits, shipping, clearance — it all takes time, within a highly controlled framework. I give a clear estimate up front, so you can decide from there.
